If you haven’t Bean There, you really ought to. Situated on the corner of Penny Lane and Smithdown Road, Bean There Coffee Shop opened last year to the delight of all the locals.

Owners Andrew and Candice Mulligan describe opening the coffee shop as both their ‘dream’ and ‘what may have been an early mid life crisis’; always the sign of something special to come. Their passion for quality coffee took them to coffee festivals, speciality shops and even to hand-grinding their own supply every morning and you can taste the quality achieved from their Atkinsons coffee roasters. Alongside quality coffee, Candice and Andrew feel strongly about the ethical implications of their decisions; choosing to shop locally and choose ethically sourced products.

Andrew explains; ‘our main aims in opening the shop was quality food and drink in a friendly atmosphere and welcoming to a variety of customers – locals, tourists, families, students, workers etc and to become an important part of the community…Over time we have become busier, gained many regular customers as well as welcoming new ones every day.’

It is with this genuine community-focussed mindset that Bean There decided to champion Claire House over the course of February for the Share the Love campaign, Andrew explains; ‘The work that they do with seriously and terminally ill children and their families is completely amazing and extremely important. You just have to watch some of the testimonials to see the huge difference they make to the families they help.’

We are so excited about being part of this campaign as we love being part of the community and to be able to help out our chosen charity and hopefully bring more awareness to the work that they do is fantastic.’

‘It’s great to see they have now opened the doors to their new site in West Derby, and hopefully any money raised through the Colu campaign can help with the continuing work the have to do there.’

Claire House fundraiser Dan Halliday is also excited for the collaboration; ‘We couldn’t do this without the support of the community and businesses, and so we can thank everyone at Bean There Coffee Shop for choosing Claire House as the charity they’d like to support!’
